Clutch Is Dead and Needs to Be Replaced

In South San Francisco, a reliable car that has served a family well is looking for a new owner. With the unfortunate circumstance that the clutch is dead, it presents an opportunity for someone to take on a car with a strong mechanical history and make it their own. Below, we delve deeper into the life of this car, its maintenance journey, and how AllCreditAuto.Loan can help you secure financing for your next vehicle.

Background of the Vehicle

This vehicle, a 2008 Honda Civic Sedan with a manual transmission, has a lot of heart and has been a part of the family since 2012. When purchased, it had 54,000 miles and was in solid mechanical condition. The decision to sell comes as the family expands, leading to the need for something larger for sports and school drop-offs. Rather than investing in a clutch replacement, this car is being passed on to someone who can rejuvenate it for further use.

Mechanical Maintenance and Reliability

The car has been a reliable daily driver, having undergone a series of mechanical services to ensure longevity. Emphasizing care over cosmetic appeal, the owners have kept the essential functions well-maintained. Here’s a brief rundown of the maintenance work done:

  • Regular oil changes with synthetic oil based on the maintenance minder.
  • Power steering fluid replaced recently.
  • Manual transmission fluid replaced with Amsoil synthetic.
  • Front lower control arm (LCA) bushings have been replaced.
  • Brake fluid has been flushed twice.
  • Both front and rear struts have been replaced.
  • Coolant replaced and serviced over the years.

With 143,000 miles on the odometer, the owner believes that replacing the clutch could allow the vehicle to continue its reliable service for an additional 150,000 miles or more. Each maintenance record is available, providing a solid history of care and upkeep.

Cosmetic Condition

While the mechanical aspects of the vehicle are in top shape, the cosmetic side tells a different story. The vehicle has experienced some wear and tear typical of family use:

  • Paint dings from daily use.
  • A dent on the passenger side rocker panel.
  • Miscellaneous small dings and scratches.

Recently, paint touches have been made, but results vary from good to not-so-good. Despite the cosmetic imperfections, the vehicle’s dependable performance has made it a cherished family asset.

Why Replace the Clutch?

A clutch is a critical part of any manual transmission vehicle. It allows you to shift gears smoothly and effectively. The current situation reflects the need for a replacement clutch, a process that can be seen as both an investment in the vehicle and a chance for its next owner to create new memories.

A refreshed clutch will not only improve the driveability but also enhance the overall experience of owning this Honda Civic. With proper care, the right owner can extend the life of this vehicle significantly.

South San Francisco

***Clutch is dead and needs to be replaced.***

Car is currently garaged in South San Francisco.

We always expected to keep this car until it completely fell apart. But with a 5 person family we are now feeling that its time to move to something larger for school/sports drop offs and pick ups. Rather than replace the clutch we’ll let someone else take it, replace it, and it can continue its life of service.

We bought this in 2012 with 54k miles on it and have been keeping the mechanical aspects maintained nicely, but not the cosmetics! It has been our daily driver and it has been completely reliable. This is the best car, easy and inexpensive to maintain.

Oil (synthetic) maintained per maintenance minder, PS fluid recently replaced, MTF fluid replaced with Amsoil synthetic recently, front LCA bushings replaced, brake fluid flushed 2x, replaced front and rear struts, coolant replaced, etc over the years. I have all maintenance records which I can hand off. I am an engineer and I maintained it for longevity. Replace the clutch and it should go another 150k miles AT LEAST.

Cosmetically, its not in the best shape. There are some paint dings, rocker dent on passenger side, miscellaneous dings etc. I recently touched up the paint and some of it looks good, some not so good. We used this car, cosmetically somewhat abused with 3 kids, but it has been mechanically babied.
