Maintenance & Modifications
The LeMans was off the road for just over a year before the recent test drive. It was taken off the road due to a failed original high-pressure power steering hose, which has been replaced. The fuel system was treated with Stabil prior to storage.
Engine Modifications:
- Original 2-barrel carburetor and intake system are available (stored in a box) alongside the original air cleaner.
- Installed 4-barrel carburetor and intake:
- 1972 Quadrajet Intake, Part #485912
- 1971 Quadrajet Carb, Part #7041263
- The current air cleaner is from a 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix.
- Equipped with a 1976 HD Trans AM front sway bar.
- Single exhaust with a Thrush glasspack.
- Fitted with Rally II wheels and BF Goodrich Radial TA tires:
- 225/70 R14 in the back
- 215/70 R14 in the front

Condition Notes
The vehicle shows some signs of aging that will need attention:
- Small rust bubble on the driver’s side door and rust at the lower fender gap.

The Car runs great. New battery bought and installed on the 13th of September. The car starts easily, runs, drives and stops.
The LeMans had been sitting for just over a year before I bought the new battery and took the car for a short drive on Saturday.
I took the car off the road because the original high pressure hose on the power steering pump finally failed after 50+ years. (I have the replacement hoses in sealed bag, bought from UAP/NAPA)
The fuel was treated with Stabil prior to taking the car off the road.
The LeMans came from the factory with a two barrel setup. I have the 2 barrel carb and intake in a box. I also have the original air cleaner.
The carb and intake on the car are four barrel:
1972 Quadrajet intake part #485912
1971 Quadrajet Carb part #7041263
The air cleaner that is on the LeMans right now is from a 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix
The car has a 1976 HD Trans AM front sway bar.

Single exhaust is fitted with a Thrush glasspack
The car is fitted with Rally IIs and 225/70 R14 BF Goodrich Radial TA tires in back and 215/70 R14s in front
I have all owners’ documentation/service records/receipts since 1981(in digital format)
The trunk lid torsion bars will need to be replaced.
Some bodywork is needed.
1. There is a small rust bubble on the the driver’s side door and the driver’s side lower fender at the
door gap edge has been eaten by rust (treated with a tannic acid-based rust converter)
2. There is bubbling present under vinyl roofing at base of rear window.
3. There is a small dent in the driver’s side quarter panel/decklid area caused by the previous owner backing
up into a boat.
4. The driver’s seat has seatbelt wear in upper right corner where belt drags across seat (see pictures)
The rest of the car is in good shape.
