Selling for Parts – 2001 Subaru Outback
Introduction
Are you in the market for a reliable vehicle that has served its purpose but may need a bit of TLC? Look no further than this 2001 Subaru Outback. With 272,000 km on the odometer, this car has plenty of life left in it and offers a combination of comfort, functionality, and the potential for great value, especially for someone looking to sell it for parts or repair.
Condition Overview
Purchased in June 2024, this Outback has been an extraordinary vehicle, serving us well on long road trips, including a memorable journey to Nelson. While the car runs and drives fantastically, it has recently encountered a setback due to rust on the rear subframe. Consequently, we’ve decided that selling it for parts—or to someone willing to replace the rear subframe—would be the best approach.
Advantages of This 2001 Subaru Outback
This car is more than just a collection of metal; it boasts several pros that may appeal to potential buyers:
- Engine Performance: The engine is running beautifully, providing the reliability that Subaru vehicles are known for.
- Maintenance Records: The head gasket was replaced in 2022, ensuring a solid engine performance moving forward.
- Timing Belt: The timing belt was replaced less than 40,000 km ago, meaning less stress about future repairs.
- No Leaks: The vehicle is dry with no observable leaks, which adds to its reliability.
- New Steering Components: A new steering rack and outer tie rods provide better handling and responsiveness.
- Interior Quality: The interior is in excellent condition, making it a comfortable ride for any journey.
- Functional Climate Control: Both AC and heater are in perfect working order, ensuring year-round comfort.
- Heated Seats and Mirrors: Enjoy enhanced comfort with the heated seats and mirrors, ideal for colder weather.
- Audio System: The 6 CD changer is working perfectly to keep you entertained on long drives.
- Owner’s Manual Included: Comes with the original owner’s manual for easy reference during repairs or maintenance.
- Tire Options: Includes a full set of summer tires and winter tires (note: one winter tire is split and will require replacement).
Disadvantages to Consider
As with any used vehicle, there are some cons that potential buyers should consider before moving forward:
- Check Engine Light: The check engine light is currently on due to an O2 sensor issue that needs addressing.
- Brake Condition: The brake pads are worn and will need to be replaced in the near future.
- Winter Tire Condition: One of the winter tires is split and will need replacing to ensure safety during the colder months.
- Minor Electronic Issues: There are a few small electronic quirks that should be looked into.
- Rear Subframe Replacement: The most pressing concern is the need to replace the rear subframe due to extensive rust.
