Selling My 1963 Chevy Nova Super Sport

It comes with a heavy heart that I have decided to sell my Nova. This is an X code SS Nova that was built at the Oakland plant. The car is absolutely beautiful and gets a lot of attention wherever I go. I will try to give the most accurate description as possible.

Body/Paint

The Nova has a beautiful 2 stage paint job that was completed in the Summer of 2024. The body is straight and paint came out amazing. The car has no rust, is garaged, and has never been driven in the rain. While in for paint, I decided to get new brightwork such as both front and rear bumpers, peak moldings, tail lights with bezels, rocker panel moldings, headlight bezels, hood moldings, trunk moldings, etc. A new weather stripping kit was also installed at this time. Overall, the appearance of this car is just beautiful.

Engine

The car has a very strong mildly built SBC 350 engine. There is no smoke or funny noises. The car also runs cool with its Ron Davis aluminum radiator and dual electric fans. The engine has a mild cam, camel hump heads, a Holley 670 CFM Street Avenger carburetor, and a Holley high rise intake manifold. For the exhaust, it has full-length headers running into new 40 series turbo mufflers with tail pipes exiting in the rear. The car has a great sound with plenty of power.

Transmission/Gears

The car has a built Turbo 350 3-speed transmission with an Eaton Posi-Trac 10 bolt rear end. Recently, I had new 3:08 gears installed for easy daily driving with a B&M shifter. When the gears were installed, I went ahead and had the driveshaft balanced and new U joints installed.

Steering/Suspension

The steering has been fully rebuilt within the last year with stock components. It is manual and feels excellent. The steering is nice and tight and doesn’t wander even at high speeds. The suspension has also been gone through and has new shocks and springs. The front springs are 2-inch lowering springs with a nice thick sway bar. The car has a nice stance.

Brakes

The brakes have also been rebuilt and have a new master cylinder and brake lines. The car stops as it should. The brakes are still manual, and someone may want to add power disc brakes in the future. It stops fine, but it would be nice to eventually get disc brakes.

Interior

Overall, the interior looks nice and presentable. The seats, headliner, carpeting, door panels, and tray shelf all look great. The dash paint is old, and to make it beautiful, it could use a fresh coat.

Electrical

The lights and turn signals all work fine. The windshield wipers work as does the horn. The car has an Alpine Bluetooth head unit with 4 JBL speakers that sound great.

Tires/Wheels

The car sits on Chevy Rally wheels and BFGoodrich tires. The tires are great all the way around. The front tires have maybe 200 miles on them, and the rears have about the same mileage but have a few burnouts on them. Overall, the tires are very good.

Miscellaneous

All of the window tracks have been greased, so the windows roll up and down very nicely. The door locks, trunk lock, glove box, and ignition have all been re-keyed and work properly. The seatbelts are all new. The car has a digital tach installed along with auxiliary temp and oil pressure gauges. The battery and alternator are also new. The car needs a new speedo linkage.

Conclusion

All in all, this is a beautiful car that has more money invested in the restoration than the sale price. The car looks and runs excellently with no overheating and is very reliable. One could drive the car on a daily basis if desired.

I’m firm on the price and am in no hurry to sell. Somebody will be getting a really nice and solid Nova. I just don’t drive this car enough to justify keeping it. I’ve done my best to describe the car as honestly as possible.

$32,500 is the price.
