Quick Summary of the 1984 Toyota LandCruiser FJ60
The 1984 Toyota LandCruiser FJ60 is a classic rugged SUV that still runs admirably, despite some aesthetic challenges such as rust spots. This vehicle has been enjoyable for its owner over the last decade, showcasing its durability and practicality. With relatively low mileage for its age, it continues to pull admirers, although its rust issues are leading the owner to seek a new owner who can appreciate and perhaps restore it.
Condition Overview
The vehicle’s running condition is one of its strong suits. With a history of regular maintenance and the owner’s diligent care, it remains mechanically sound. The recent service history is promising, with a clean bill of health from a certified mechanic, guaranteeing the car’s reliability for new adventures. However, the rust spots on the bodywork pose a significant concern that potential buyers should consider.
Rust Problems
While the car functions well, its exterior aesthetic is compromised by several bad rust spots. These areas of corrosion are a concern not only for appearance but also for structural integrity if left unchecked. Unfortunately, the current owner is unable to afford professional bodywork repairs and has opted to sell the vehicle instead. Prospective buyers should be aware of this aspect, as it will require attention sooner than later.

Quick summary:
The car is currently running as well as it ever has, has relatively low miles for what it is but has some bad rust spots.
The details:
I’ve owned this car for 10 years and continue to enjoy driving it but the rust is really catching up with it. There are a few really bad spots and lots of bad spots. I don’t have the money for proper body work so putting it up for sale.
During my ownership it was primarily serviced by Gary Kardum (Mudrak’s Custom Cruisers) in Sonoma. I did the lift (OME kit) myself somewhere around 2016 and Gary checked my work. Gary had the car in December and gave it a once over. His shop serviced the carb, put on a new cat (current smog certificate valid through 2/11/25), replaced a bunch of rusty brake lines, did tie rods, new steering dampener and a bunch of other stuff. Gary gave it a clean bill of mechanical health and new BFG K02s all around. I drove it back from Sonoma before Christmas and everything was great.
I’ve got paperwork from Gary and a few other people going back to 2014, happy to share any of that and talk through the current state of the wagon with serious buyers.
