Overview

This classic 1976 Chevy Nova is a 6-cylinder inline model with a 3-speed automatic transmission and 4 doors. While the car is not in perfect condition and needs some work, it possesses significant potential for restoration. The current owner is looking to sell due to a lack of time and the need for space.

Condition Summary

The vehicle has several issues that will require attention, making it ideal for those looking for a project car. Key points include:

  • Needs upholstery work
  • Requires a paint job
  • Tune-up needed including electrical work
  • Weatherstripping needs replacement
  • New cooling system required
  • Front left wheel vibrates only in motion
  • Speedometer cable issues
  • Various miscellaneous repairs

The car runs but is not in perfect condition, underscoring that this is a project vehicle with room for improvement.

History and Repairs

The current owner purchased this Nova three years ago and has made some significant repairs, including:

  • New tires
  • New shocks
  • Rebuilt carburetor
  • New spark plugs and cables
  • New distributor and serpentine belts
  • Brake system enhancements including brake booster and new rear brake shoes

The vehicle has been driven less than 100 miles during the owner’s tenure, mainly parked, which has contributed to its current state.

Detailed Issues

Here are some specific issues that need to be addressed:

  • Left front wheel: Potential wheel bearing replacement is needed as there is a vibration when driving.
  • Electrical issues: Flashers don’t work properly both on the dash and the lights. Leaving the battery connected overnight will drain it due to turning signals and headlights staying on.
  • Starter: May require a replacement as it occasionally grinds when starting.
  • Brake light housing: Needs replacement; included OER replacements are part of the sale.
  • Cooling system: The entire system needs replacement.
  • Interior: Upholstery needs repair, and the passenger seat belt is almost cut off.
  • Rust: Some rust is present, particularly on the trunk, where the new weatherstripping has not solved leaks from rain.
  • Tune-up: A proper tune-up is required for optimal performance.
  • Speedometer: Currently not functioning properly with ongoing issues possibly related to the odometer.

Potential for Restoration

Despite its challenges, this 1976 Chevy Nova offers a remarkable opportunity for car enthusiasts and restoration lovers. It features a “Clean Title” with no salvage claims or thefts reported according to the VIN check.

With a little dedication and investment, this car has the potential to be an impressive classic that stands out on the road.

$4,500

Los Angeles

Hello up for sale is a 1976 Chevy Nova 6 Cyl Inline (3 speed automatic) 4 door for sale. 250 CI
If the ad is up the vehicle is still for sale.

Summary of info below car needs work (upholstery, paint, tune up, electrical work, weatherstripping, needs new cooling system, front left wheel vibration only in motion, speedometer cable, and other miscellaneous things)
Runs but not perfect. Car is not perfect; hence, it is a project car.
Asking $4500 or best offer. Not interested in trades, part outs, checks, etc. cash only.
If you’re serious please contact.
Reason for selling is I don’t have time for the car and I need the space ASAP.

Please read the info for the details of the car if it matters. I’m going to be honest about the car.
The car is not in perfect condition and it needs some work, but it has potential. Car was bought 3 years ago, but up until now was not able to fully restore it due to time.
At the time of purchase I put new tires, shocks, rebuilt carb, new spark plugs, new cables, distributor, serpentine belts, brake booster, brake drum/disc valve, replaced brake wheel cylinder and rear brake shoes. I removed the smog pump (included in sale) because the power steering was not attached properly (vehicle was purchased with power steering held by serpentine belt) and I bought a bracket to fully mount it along with a new power steering hose. During time of ownership car was driven less than 100 miles. Car has been mostly parked.

Issues:
Left front wheel (possibly wheel bearing replacement (I bought a wheel bearing but have not replaced it) vibrating noise when driving.

Electrical issues (flashers don’t work properly both on dash and lights). When battery is connected the lights (turning signals, headlights) remain turned on. This could be due to a ground issue, I wasn’t able to get a true diagnostic. I tried replacing the emergency flasher switch but that did not solve the problem. So when the car is turned off, the turning signals/headlights remain on which if the battery is left connected overnight it will drain.

Starter could use a replacement (at times not all times it will grind when turning on)

Brake light housing (internal) has wooden blocks. I bought it this way, I bought OER replacements but never went around on replacing it (included in sale).

Cooling system needs replacement

Interior needs upholstery (seat has some tears due to age as well as sun damage)

Could use new paint

Passenger seat belt is almost cut off

Could use a proper tune up

Speedometer doesn’t work properly ( I tried replacing the cable but odometer doesn’t spin)

Some rust on the car (primarily on the trunk)

When it rains the trunk seeps water inside, I replaced the weatherstrip however this did not solve the issue.

Weatherstripping needs replacement (included in sale)

Update: manage to recharge the battery and car started after sitting for 2 months.

Overall this is a project car, I hate to see it go but I need to get rid of it.
It’s a car that has potential.
The car is clean title and according to VIN check there’s no salvage claims or thefts associated with car. I have other details of the car through VIN check, I can provide if buyer is serious otherwise I’m not wasting my time.

$4,500 or best offer. Make me an offer, the worst I can say is no.
Cash Only.
Thank you for your time.

Please serious inquiries only. Have had enough people wasting my time. If you are serious about buying the car contact me. I come home late from work in the weekdays I don’t have the time to waste. I’m available weekends morning preferred. Also it’ll allow you to see the car in the daytime better.

Thank you for your time.
