Why the 1955 Ford Fairlane Club Sedan Stands Out

This car is lovingly referred to as the “Other ’55.” While many love a classic ’55 Chevy, this Ford Fairlane brings a unique charm that is rarely seen at car shows or cruise nights. Being one of the few remaining models, it’s a perfect conversation starter and a true collectible. Each aspect of this car tells a story and reflects an era that celebrates classic Americana.

I will entertain reasonable offers. In person, cash or certified check only (sign over title when it clears).

This is the “Other ’55”. Don’t get me wrong, I love love love ’55 Chevys, but every car show or cruise there are 5 or 6 of them, and hardly EVER any other ’55 offering. Well here you go!

1955 Ford Fairlane “Club Sedan”, 2-door post. Clean CA title. Unlike the guy who sold it to me, I will tell you EVERYTHING I know about the car, no hidden agenda, no surprises.

An older restomod with all the right stuff: 80’s vintage 302, C6 auto trans, power front disc brakes, power steering, new dual exhaust, new aluminum radiator. Car was originally a 272 Y-block, two-tone red and white; I doubt the paint is original, although the red is faded to a maroon, so maybe? No idea how many miles the drivetrain has on it, probably a lot; although it runs and drives just fine, the engine is old and tired and leaks from rear seal. Tranny shifts good, but also leaks a little out the front. Tires are 5 years old but less than 200 miles on them; Good brakes, new front hoses, rebuilt rears.

When I got it the main wiring harness had been cut clean! So I had to rewire ignition and exterior lights myself, not a pro job, but functional – all Exterior Lights work, including turn signal; interior lighting still needs work. All glass is good, all the stainless trim is there, but missing some/most of the emblems. New front bumper, new shocks all four corners. Driver’s seat belt only, I have a second one just never installed it. Older Holley 600cfm Vacuum Secondary carb, rebuilt it myself, runs good no leaks, manual choke linkage is a little “hinky”, but car has the original choke knob and cable. Speedometer cable not hooked up, but it has the cool mid-50’s “glass house” speedo cluster, and all original knobs. Interior redone long before I bought it, so-so dash paint job, looks great from 10 feet away. White vinyl seats; probably seemed like a good idea in hot summer Kansas (where this car came from), but it gets dirty very easily. Good headliner.

It has some rust-through in the floorpan and various parts of fenders and quarters, not too bad, but I’ll let you see for yourself. Trunk floor is surprisingly solid. Rear leaf springs probably need to be re-curved; the shackles have been reversed, which added about 4″ to ride height, and then 2″ lowering blocks brought it back to normal ride height….all done before I bought it.

Many spare parts go with the car, too numerous to mention.

If you come look at it, and are seriously interested, I’ll tell you EVERYTHING I KNOW about it, all the goods and bads, all honest and up front, nothing to hide. Yes we can test drive it. I’m only selling it to fund my Maverick restomod. Text Rob at SIX ONE 9 2 6 ONE 2 FOUR EIGHT 7.
