Pristine Restorations: A 1963 Lincoln Sedan Dream
The Rarity of Pristine Early 1960s Lincoln Sedans
Pristine and properly restored early 1960s slab-sided Lincoln sedans are indeed rare. While they were more numerous than convertibles, the majority were not well cared for and ultimately fell into disrepair. Many of these classic vehicles were sacrificed as parts cars long ago, making the few that remain in good condition highly sought after.
A No Expense Spared Restoration
The car presented here was purchased by a Lincoln Club owner, who undertook a “no expense spared” restoration on what was believed to be an original, unrestored vehicle showing only 27,000 miles. This incredible restoration process retained all original components except for tires and wheel rims, which had at one point been switched to 15-inch wheels before being restored back to the factory-appropriate 14 inches.
Color and Condition Adjustments
The color combination underwent a thoughtful transformation from a beige-on-beige palette to a stunning tuxedo black exterior paired with a honey beige interior. This choice was inspired by an advertisement published by the Lincoln Division in 1963. A meticulous, multi-year restoration saw the vehicle disassembled completely, allowing for any minor rust issues—common to Lincolns of that era—to be expertly addressed prior to repainting.
Mechanical Excellence
Beyond aesthetics, the restoration also encompassed the mechanical aspects of the vehicle. Every component of the suspension, engine, and transmission received the necessary attention to ensure a like-new operational status. The installation of new leather seating, a plush wool carpeting set, a new headliner, fresh wood inserts, and rebuilt controls and mechanical systems showcases the detail and care invested into this restoration.
A One-Of-A-Kind Offering
The culmination of these efforts results in a vehicle that represents a truly unique offering in the automotive market. The seller is asking for $125,000 and is specifically looking for an owner who will appreciate the comprehensive restoration rather than seeking to convert the classic car into a resto-mod project with modern upgrades.

Pristine and Properly restored early 1960s slab-sided Lincoln sedans are indeed rare. While more numerous by far than the convertibles, most were not well cared for and driven to unrestorable condition and many were sacrificed as parts cars many years ago. The car presented was purchased by a Lincoln Club owner and has been received a “no expense spared” restoration based upon what was believed to be a dowdy 27,000-mile unrestored vehicle, complete with all original parts except tires and wheel rims (converted at some point to 15-inch wheels and then restored back to factory correct 14 inches.)
The color combination was changed from beige on beige to match an advertisement the Lincoln Division ran in 1963: tuxedo black with honey beige interior. A multi-year restoration completely dismantling the entire vehicle to allow the body/paint shop to address minor rust issues (common in all Lincolns of that vintage regardless of location because Ford Motor company did not zinc dip their Sheetmetal) and then carefully repaint the body. All suspension, engine and transmission needs completed, installed new leather seating, a wool carpeting set (passenger compartment and truck), new headliner, new wood inserts and rebuilt all controls and mechanical systems. Also, spent long hours restoring the engine compartment to factory delivered, new car specifications.
The result cannot likely be duplicated for less than the asking price: $125,000.
Seller is looking for someone who will appreciate an accurate and comprehensive cosmetic and mechanical restoration. If you want such a car to convert it to a resto-mod with a big block engine and a giant stereo system, we kindly ask that you look elsewhere.
