The 1969 Ford F-100 Ranger Long Bed: A True Classic Restoration Story
Introduction
The 1969 Ford F-100 Ranger long bed is a pickup truck that embodies both style and reliability. A true classic, this truck was purchased in Arizona in 2010 and underwent a meticulous restoration process. While not a frame-off restoration, it kept the original untouched undercarriage, ensuring no hidden surprises. Solid as a rock, this truck is absolutely rust-free, featuring matching numbers on a powerful 360ci engine paired with the original C6 automatic transmission.
The Restoration Journey
The restoration process took place during 2010 and 2011, with several significant upgrades and replacements to enhance the driving experience. The rear end was rebuilt, and a power brake conversion was done alongside the installation of electronic ignition. A robust four-row aluminum radiator was added for improved cooling, and factory power steering ensures a smooth drive.
Components and Upgrades
Every aspect of this truck was meticulously cared for, with all-new drum brakes installed around the truck, ensuring reliable stopping power. Every nut, bolt, and spring was replaced, and new shocks were added to improve ride quality. The dedication to using OEM parts wherever possible, and LMC reproduction parts when necessary, speaks to the quality of this restoration.
Among the highlights of the restoration was the grill, which was straightened, dipped, and polished to appear brand new. The truck has been driven very lightly since the restoration, allowing its paint to remain in excellent condition with only a few minor chips on the bed pan which were touched up with matching Ford UA Black paint. Overall, this truck exudes quality and care.
Condition and Reliability
Despite being a 12-year-old restoration, this F-100 Ranger looks astounding, with a rating of 9 or 9.5 out of 10. Two minor drawbacks include the carpet, which, while new, fits imperfectly but shows well, and the original engine, which has not been rebuilt and could use some freshening up with a new coat of paint.
However, the truck runs and drives great, having been garage-kept and exceptionally reliable throughout its tenure. All lights, signals, and reverse lights operate perfectly, making this vehicle not just a remarkable classic but also a practical one.

1969 Ford F-100 Ranger long bed. Bought truck in 2010 in Arizona and restored it. Not a frame off resto… all original untouched undercarriage..so no surprises hidden under there… solid as a rock. Absolutely RUST FREE truck with matching numbers 360ci 2 barrel carb with original C6 auto trans.
Everything was restored in 2010 and 11. Rebuilt rear end, Did a power brake conversion and electronic ignition. Also installed a nice big 4 row aluminum radiator. Truck came equipped with factory power steering. All new drum brakes all the way around.. every nut, bolt and spring replaced. All new shocks all the way around also. This truck is tight and handles like a new one. All lights, signals and reverse lights work perfectly. When restoring I tried using oem parts but when not available used lmc repro parts. The grill was straightened, dipped and polished and looks new. The truck has been driven very lightly over the years since restoration. Paint still looks great with very few tiny chips on the bed pan that I touched up with matching Ford UA Black. But truck looks amazing for a 12 year old restoration. Only cons I can think of are the carpet, its new but never really fit quite right but shows well. Also the motor being original and never rebuilt to my knowledge could use painting and freshening up. This truck runs and drives great and has always been very reliable and of course always garage kept. On a scale from 1 to 10 this truck is an overall 9 or 9.5
