For sale is a very special 1996 Mercedes CL600.

Let’s start with the origin. This is a European model. It wasn’t destined for the U.S. market. The way you tell that is the side markers and the low-profile bumpers. U.S. models didn’t come with turn signal markers on the fenders and the bumpers would extend out a little more because they had to pass the 5mph impact regulation. The C140 600 V12 is already a rare car but having the European destination, makes it that much more rare.

The rarity doesn’t stop there. It also has the very rare refrigerator option. The reason I say it’s rare is because usually the sedans came with that option, not the coupes. It also comes with the factory fire extinguisher, mounted under the driver’s seat. Car comes with the phone as well, hence the center console armrest, which has the indentation to place the phone. Obviously, the phone in inoperable. To my knowledge, you can’t even connect those phones anymore, but it’s still a cool reminder of the 90’s.

Description/options:
The car has approximately 108,000 miles, which for this car is nothing since it has been maintained correctly. The reason I know this car was maintained well is because everything on the car works. The windows and window actuators, all the gauges, refrigerator, seats motors, all the lights, back up antennas, door and trunk suction mechanisms, etc… When cars are neglected, usually so are the electronics, since they’re expensive to fix. The car also comes with functioning factory stereo, AMG 19” wheels and tires. Tires still have approximately 60% thread left on them

Cons:
The care was sitting in a climate-controlled garage for a few years prior to me purchasing it. It used to belong to an older gentleman that didn’t drive the car a lot. It requires brakes and shocks. They’re not worn out but dried out. I didn’t want to touch them because I am not sure if the new owner wants to lower the car or upgrade the brakes to AMG brakes.


Reason for selling:
I purchased this car for my elderly father. When he was much younger, he used to have one, and he loved that car, but due to financial difficulties, he had to sell it. So, I wanted to surprise him and I purchased it for him, but due to recent health problems, he’s not going to be able to drive it. So, decided to sell it.

In my opinion, the W140/C140 chassis was the best large sedan/coupe Mercedes ever made. The newer cars, they even drive different. They don’t have classic Mercedes drive. Anyone that has driven one would know exactly what I am talking about. The way they effortlessly glide down a highway at any speed, especially that smooth V12.

I am not desperate to sell, so please don’t send me ridiculous offers. If the car doesn’t sell, I wouldn’t mind keeping it
