1999 Chevy Tahoe 2 Door Sport Overview
The 1999 Chevy Tahoe 2-Door Sport is a gem on the road, especially with its rare barn doors in the rear. As the owner of this unique vehicle, I’ve received an overwhelming number of compliments on both its pristine condition and its appealing color combination. The Tahoe is often regarded as a classic choice among enthusiasts, and it’s easy to see why.
History of This Unique Chevy SUV
This Tahoe was purchased new by a lady in the Sacramento area, and I have the original receipt from the very first oil change when it had just 3,000 miles on the odometer. It was later bought by a couple stationed from Germany, who sold it soon after. The previous owner enhanced this Tahoe considerably, investing around $10k in upgrades and retrofits before I took ownership.
Upgrades and Maintenance
Documented maintenance includes a complete upgrade of the air conditioning system, transmission, steering, brakes, and suspension. All receipts are available for viewing. Notable upgrades include:
- A/C system that blows cold
- Complete front brake job with new rotors, calipers, and ceramic brake pads
- Full brake fluid flush
- Thermostat and cooling system flush
- Transmission filter, gasket replacement, and fluid flush
- Transfer case and differential servicing
- New windshield replaced last year
- High-quality tires with a 10-ply rating for towing capability
Mechanical Performance
This Tahoe runs and drives great, having recently undergone various maintenance procedures, ensuring reliability and a smooth ride. The Magna-Flow muffler enhances exhaust flow while maintaining a moderate rumble that enhances the driving experience but doesn’t overpower it.
Interior and Exterior Condition
The interior of the Tahoe is exceptionally clean and well-maintained, featuring heavy-duty cargo and floor mats, comfortable upholstery, and no significant stains. The body is straight with glossy paint, showcasing minimal wear and tear despite its age. The original running boards not only serve a functional purpose but also add to its rugged aesthetic.

If the ad is Up…. It is still up for a TRADE for a 1968-1972 Chevy El Camino, Late70’s ~ Early80’s Pontiac TransAm or a C3 Corvette.
1999 Chevy Tahoe 2 door Sport with the Rare barn doors in the rear. The “Sport” model is rare, as well as the barn doors. This is my 5th 2-door Tahoe with barn doors, and I get the most compliments on this one. Most people comment on how clean it is, as well as the color combo.
Clean and Current California title in MY name.
Smog inspection will be performed at my cost.
Starting with some history on this cool Chevy SUV…. This Tahoe was purchased new by a lady in the Sacramento area, and I have the receipt from the very first oil change in 1999 when this Tahoe only had 3k miles on the odometer. The story I was told… Is that a couple that was stationed here from Germany purchased it from the original owner/lady, but then sold it soon thereafter before moving back to Germany. The guy I bought it from, bought it from the couple and spent $10k in just a few years on upgrades and retrofits. He sold it to me because it mostly sat in his garaged unused.
I have a stack of receipts that show the entire air conditioning system was upgraded, as well as upgrading and retrofitting the transmission, steering, brakes, suspension, audio system and more. All receipts are available to view in person.
A/C blows Cold.
Since I have owned it.. It has recently got a complete front brake job with New brake rotors, New calipers, Set of Ceramic brake pads for minimal brake dust and noise… as well as a complete brake fluid flush. (2-months ago)
Rear brakes have 60% left after previous owner had them completely serviced.
Thermostat/Gasket and cooling system flush.
Transmission filter and gasket replaced with a trans fluid flush afterwards.
Transfer case and both Front and Rear differentials were drained and refilled.
The windshield was replaced last year.
Max-Trek Hill Tracker LT265 75R16 tires were installed last year before a 4-wheel alignment was performed. These are 10-ply rating and can handle some weight/towing.
It has a hitch assembly from the factory, but I have never towed anything with this one.
Recent Magna-Flow muffler which is the same size as the factory, but better flow… Not loud but a good rumble. Stainless steel exhaust tip.
Fuel pump replaced with sender assembly, as well as a new K&N fuel filter and O-rings. (3-months ago)
K&N air filter
Battery is fairly new.
The entire audio system was upgraded by the previous owner, and there is a self-powered subwoofer hidden in front of the spare tire in the cargo area.
Heavy-duty cargo and floor mats throughout. Interior is very clean with nice upholstery and carpeting. No stains on seats, and very minimal stain(s) on carpeting.
Body is straight and has glossy paint with only minor dings and paint chips that has been touched up a bit with GM touch up paint. OE running boards that do a good job of keeping the rocks and mud from slinging across the body and glass. I think the boards make the truck look stoutier, but they can easily be removed with a few tools.
Overhead console with Compass and Temp on rear view mirror.
I have been a automotive technician for over 30 years and keep all my vehicles mechanically and cosmetically maintained.
No rust anywhere.
Runs and drives great.
I love these trucks, which why I have owned (5) of them to date. I always travel many miles to find a gem whenever buying Any type of car… whether for myself or someone else.
After doing some research and knowing what has been done to this Tahoe by the previous owners and myself included… I would value this Tahoe at around $10k
Feel free to ask for any additional photos or information.
As I stated above… I am only looking for a Trade for a 1968-1972 Chevy El Camino, Late 70’s ~ Early 80’s Pontiac TransAm, or a C3 Corvette
I would be willing to add cash to a trade, or take some cash if the deal if lop-sided the other way. Please keep in mind before making any trade offers, that I am looking to trade MY running and driving vehicle… For another Running and Driving vehicle.
This Chevy Tahoe is a Running and Driving vehicle with Current registration and is my daily driver.
Thank for looking/reading
