Listing My Car on Craigslist After an Unsuccessful Journey on Cars and Bids

After attempting to sell my beloved 2009 Porsche Cayman on Cars and Bids, I’ve decided to list it here on Craigslist. Unfortunately, after receiving a high bid, the winning bidder was banned from the site and ghosted the transaction. If you’re interested in the car, please refer to the detailed listing on Cars and Bids: 2009 Porsche Cayman Listing. If for some reason Craigslist blocks this URL, I’m more than happy to send it to you directly via email. I welcome anyone interested to come by for a test drive—just provide proof of funds, and I’m fully open to anyone who wishes to request a pre-purchase inspection (PPI) at their own expense.

About the Car

I purchased this car in January 2025 and have driven it for approximately 6,600 miles since then. It has been a joy to own, but I recently acquired an SUV for my hobbies and, living in an apartment in San Francisco, I cannot keep both vehicles. To provide full transparency and confidence to prospective buyers, I have an extensive google drive link with all the documentation, photos, repair bills—everything you might want to review—available upon request. I also have the Carfax report for this vehicle.

Recent Upgrades

The car recently underwent paint correction and ceramic coating, totaling $2,400, courtesy of Bay Area Detail, known for their meticulous work. The detailing was performed by Taylor Griffith, who is well-known for working on vehicles for Bring a Trailer. I’m also including rare factory roof cross bars with the car, which are no longer in production. Though they have some surface-level corrosion, they function perfectly—unfortunately, I didn’t have the time to restore their appearance.

Service History

Below is a list of the most recent service performed on the car:

  • August 2025 (101,726 miles): Front power steering line replaced

  • April 2025 (98,125 miles): Rear brake pads and rotors replaced
  • January 2025 (95,823 miles): Engine oil and filter changed
  • August 2024: Headliner replaced

  • January 2023 (84,387 miles): Engine oil and filter changed
  • May 2021 (76,728 miles): Engine oil and filter changed
  • February 2020 (75,268 miles): Spark plugs replaced; engine oil, oil filter, air filter, and cabin air filter changed

Included in Sale

The sale includes:

  • 2 keys
  • Owner’s manual

Known Flaws

It’s important to share the car’s history openly. According to the Carfax, this vehicle sustained minor damage to the rear in November 2017, and I have documentation of the repairs. Please be aware of the following imperfections:

  • Some chips and scratches around the exterior
  • Dent on the rear bumper
  • Curb rash on the passenger’s side rear wheel; tires have 2019 date codes
  • Creases on seats and wear on some interior touch points

Owner’s Notes

Here are some notes from the previous owner (the individual I purchased the car from):

  • I bought this car in 2015 with approximately 30k miles and have taken meticulous care of it since.
  • This is a 2009 model, featuring the PDK transmission (not tiptronic).
  • It does not have any of the IMS bearing issues or bore scoring problems experienced by pre-2009 models.
  • A PPI was conducted when I bought it, indicating that the rear bumper had been resprayed with no significant damage.
  • Years after my purchase, someone bumped me, causing a minor issue with the bumper which was not heavily noticeable but is included in the pictures.
  • Most of the mileage is attributed to my highway commute to San Ramon.
  • The headliner had started detaching this summer, but I had that fixed professionally by Tri-Valley Auto Interiors in Pleasanton, who performed superb work in 2024.

Listing my car here on Craigslist after I tried listing it on Cars and Bids and the high bidder got banned from the site after ghosting the transaction. If you want information about the car see this listing: https://carsandbids.com/auctions/Kdl22WyK/2009-porsche-cayman — if Craigslist for some reason blocks this URL I can send you it directly over email, its just a link to the cars and bids listing. I will gladly allow test drives with proof of funds and am 100% open to anyone that wants to request a PPI at your expense.

I purchased this car in January of 2025 and have since put about 6,600 miles on it since then, I love this car but I ended up getting an SUV for my hobbies, seeing as I live in an SF apartment I can’t keep two cars. I have an extensive google drive link with all the documentation, pictures, repair bills, anything you could possibly want to see at request. I also have the carfax for this vehicle. I also recently got the car paint corrected and ceramic coated ($2400 paint correction + detail) at bay area detail, it was done by Taylor Griffith who details a bunch of cars for Bring a Trailer. I’m also throwing in the really rare roof cross bars for this car for free that they don’t make anymore. They have some surface level corrosion and look a tiny bit ugly but otherwise function just fine, I didn’t have the time or effort to get them touched up or restored.

Here are some notes from the previous owner (the guy I bought it from):
– I purchased this car in 2015 with about 30k miles, and hav etaken meticulous care of it since.
– This is a 2009 model, so it has the PDK transmission (not tiptronic)
– None of the IMS bearing issues or the bore scoring of the pre-2009 models.
– I had a PPI done when I bought it, and they said the rear bumper had been resprayed, but they did not see any damage
– Someone bumped into me a few years after I bought it. The result was their license palte screw damaged the little “bumperrette” (I understand these come paitned in black from SunCoast Parts for ~$50 but I haven’t confirmed). In the years since, there’s some paint lines in the bumper where the bumper cover flexed – hard to see but you can tell if you look closely. Both of these are shown in the pictures.
– Most of the miels are from my highway commute to San Ramon.
– The headliner started detachign this summer, and I just ahd that fixed profesionally by Tri-Valley Auto Interiors in Pleasanton – they did great work! (this was in 2024).
