Lots of info. PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING ME!!!!!!!!
Hey everyone, I just want to start out by mentioning the reason I want to sell:
I’ll be moving out of Vancouver in a couple of months after spending some time in Thailand. Due to this fact, I do not have the ability to continue my ownership my of this car. I’ll be dailying my E46 moving forward. Additionally, I am an athlete competing in a downhill skateboarding world championship series, so all the money from this car will go towards funding my sporting ambitions.
General info:
Everything works except for the handbrake and the speedometer. New cooling system. New belts. No leaks. Heater core works remarkably well. Full size spare tire. Comes with winter rubber & summer rubber. Owned since 2018, full service record since 2018, nothing prior. Garage kept since 2018. Paint has a real nice patina, would look great with a clear coat. It’s going to be hard to let it go, but I’ll sell to the first person with cash in hand. This car is currently my daily driver, I love it. It’s never let me down, I use it to commute from Vancouver to Calgary, I’ve done lots of road trips in it, I take this car camping and sleep in it, it’s warm in the winter and cool in the summer. With the winter tires and the LSD this thing can go literally anywhere, it’s like a little bug crawling up a wall. Downsides are the car has a lot of rust, but it runs great.

Lore:
This car is an “e” model. It was designed for better fuel efficiency. What BMW did is they took the m20b25 engine from the 325i model and bored it out to 2.7 L from factory. The bigger displacement and longer stroke of the m20b27 gives it a larger torque figure of 170 lb-ft. A low final drive ratio of 2.93, combined with a redline that arrives at just 4.8k allows the car to achieve wonderful fuel efficiency and a completely linear torque curve with utterly smooth power delivery. 122 HP is all you need. The engine is compatible with the head from the 325i for a stroker build.
It’s the 325eS which is the sport model. This gives you the factory LSD and power sunroof, stiffer anti roll bars. Previous owner installed H&S sport springs.
Maintenance:
I’ve done a lot of maintenance since I’ve owned the car. I have records and receipts for everything I’ve done. This car is garage kept ever since I’ve owned it. This car was purchased in Alberta in 2018 with no records, it’s a total ghost. I’ve learned that this car has most likely been kept outside its entire life (it is a rust bucket), but the engine has been maintained immaculately. The whole care is bone stock.
– Regular oil changes
– All new belts, cooling system, clutch fan installed in 2020 with oem rad, pressure tested in December 2024, holds 19 psi (this car can’t overheat)
– New diff bushing 2020
– New temperature sensors 2020
– All fluids replaced 2020
– New headlights 2022
– New brake pads 2022
– New alternator & belt in 2022
– I’ve removed as much rust as I physically could with a grinder and applied rust repellant everywhere
– Smoke tested in 2023 and no leaks
– Amongst other things
ISSUES: ([please read before making me an offer))
– Elephant tube. When I bought the car in 2018, I noticed the carpet was always wet. I cut the carpet out to discover the jacking points were punched through. Turns out it was the dreaded elephant tube being clogged, which causes water to pool in the cowl. I don’t know how long this was going on for, but long enough that the water made its way through the firewall and over time rusted out the jacking points. One of the previous owners must have jacked it up one too many times because the jacking points punched through. I was in a pinch, so I cut out all the rust, sprayed it, screwed down a plank of sheet metal and sealed it with aluminum caulking to keep water out
– Sunroof leaks when parked in the rain, hence the tape on the roof, needs a new seal
– Rust, lots of it
– Brakes are spongy, need to be bled
– Speedometer doesn’t work
>>> @2000 RPM >>>
3RD = 50 kph
4TH = 80 kph
5TH = 100 KPH
– Currently no exhaust, it’s a bit loud especially on highways
– Slight grounding issue on the back of the cluster, I’ve had it out several times to fix it, sometimes the fuel gauge cuts out, so I fill up the gas tank every time I drive
– Missing shift knob
– No AC belt, so no AC. Personally, with the windows and sunroof down it’s never been a problem for me
– Drivers seat probably needs to be replaced since the lumbar adjustment slips if you accelerate the car hard enough
