This car runs, but here is the reason it’s so inexpensive:

1. It has a salvage title – it passed all the tests just a few years ago, but it still needs to go through the extra to get it registered to you.

2. It has an oil leak – like all old Subarus

3. It needs a new water pump.

4. It has body damage. The rear quarter panel is munched. The lights work fine, but the fender and gas cover are munched pretty badly. I have a white, front fender for it that I got at Pick-n-Pull.

The interior is pretty good. It has a stain on the passenger that should come off with a cleaning. Other than that, it’s quite clean. A few interior pieces that need to be installed (cup holder, seat belt cover, etc) that I got from Pick-N-Pull. You will likely make another trip to Pick-n-Pull to replace a few other cracked covers, but it’s all minimal.

Those are the only problems. I had my mechanic check it out and he that’s what he told me.

It’s currently at about 250,000 miles. Should get at least another 50,000 to 100,000 according to my mechanic. If you are mechanically inclined, you can get a lot more than that.

I have been driving it fine like this for a while. I just need to keep my eye on the oil level and the water/coolant. I’ve had to add coolant about once or twice a month (depending on how much I drive), and a quart of oil about the same amount.

So, if you are a handy mechanic, the water pump will probably cost a few hundred dollars. If you want a mechanic to do it, it will be much more – which is why I decided to not do it. The oil leaks are likely more involved, but keeping your eye on the oil seems to work fine. I have yet to find an old Subaru without them.

It’s already extremely cheap, so please be respectful and don’t come and make me a lowball offer. I’m pretty firm on the price. I can still drive it like this for a long time, so I don’t need to sell it quickly.
